Apparently, I'm blogging (or, intro post)

That's right, I'm totally blogging!  Well, let me qualify that:  I'm going to be using this site to document the latest news from my writerly endeavors.

I may also be doing some more traditional blog-type entries, but the nature, frequency, and quality of such entries are all great unknowns.  We're on a journey here together, and nobody knows exactly where we're headed with this blog project.  Let's just hope it's not to a correctional institute of some kind.

Okay, so . . . there's a lot to get you caught up on.  It all started on the night I was born, a snowy night in Southfield, Michigan that -- actually, umm, let's just pick things up about two weeks ago.  That's when I received this package:

Hmmm.  Does it look suspicious?  What could it be?  As you can probably tell from those open flaps, I chanced a look inside . . .

Hark!  What's this?  That's right, it was the author copies of The Morgue and Me, my first novel, which is coming out on June 25th.  Opening this box was actually kind of a big moment in my life -- I felt like a real live author.

But then it got better, because this week I discovered that the Barnes & Noble in Springfield, Virginia (responding to insatiable demand, probably), had shelved copies of my book a wee bit early.  So naturally I drove there at like 9:30 on a Sunday night.

Dudes, that's the book I wrote.  On a book shelf.  In a book store.  Seeing this was a crazy-cool feeling.

Okay, so to wrap this up:  (1)  I wrote a book called The Morgue and Me; and (2) if you live in Springfield, VA, you're incredibly lucky because Barnes & Noble already has it in stock.  The rest of you have to wait until Thursday.
